Environmental Management

The environmental laboratory is recognized by Central Pollution Control Board, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India and accredited with ISO-9001 certification. It undertakes baseline environmental data generation, EIA, EMP and monitoring various factors related environment.

CMPDI has been regularly dealing with multi-dimensional environment complexities existing in coal and other mineral sector to promote environmentally benign mining design and practices.

The most important environment related activities being carried out by CMPDI is the Environment Impact Assessment and Environment Management Plan for the mines of Coal India Limited. It also undertakes environmental auditing works of different coal mining projects of Coal India Limited as and when required.

CMPDI also carries out the Regional Environmental Studies for different coalfields as and when need arises. Other important activity undertaken on regular basis by CMPDI is environmental monitoring of mines of Coal India Limited on behalf of subsidiary companies for compliance of statutory direction of Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) and State Pollution Control Boards.

The Planning and Design of Industrial as well as Domestic Effluent Treatment Facilities are also undertaken by CMPDI. Besides, ground water studies are also taken up by CMPDI for different production companies.

CMPDI undertakes land use studies through satellite, airborne scanner, aerial photography and ground survey for the specific project as well as for urban and regional planning.

CMPDI has a well equipped environmental laboratory to undertake the entire spectrum of environmental studies. The environmental laboratory is recognized by Central Pollution Control Board, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India and accredited with ISO-9001 certification.
